FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about Shareshed.

Please note: Shareshed is only a free intermediary between two parties. Offering and lending tools is entirely at your own risk.
What exactly is Shareshed?

Shareshed is a free mediation platform that enables individuals to offer or borrow tools from neighbours. Shareshed is not a rental company, owner, or keeper of tools. We simply connect parties.

Who is liable for damage or loss?

Offering and borrowing tools via Shareshed is entirely at your own risk. Shareshed is not liable for damage, injury, loss, theft, or consequential damage arising from the use of the platform or borrowed tools. Always make clear agreements with the other party.

What should I do in case of theft?

File a police report immediately (politie.nl or call 0900-8844 for non-urgent contact). Keep all communication on Shareshed as evidence. Then contact the other party and inform us via the support page. Unfortunately Shareshed cannot provide compensation, but we will help where possible.

How do I make good agreements with the borrower or lender?

Always document the following in writing via chat: the condition of the tool before lending, any deposit, the loan period, and the exact return time. Photos of the tool's condition are also strongly recommended.

Can I charge for lending tools?

Yes, you can. Shareshed lets lenders decide whether to lend for free or for a fee. Make sure this is clearly stated in your listing and discuss the payment method with the borrower in advance.

What items are prohibited on Shareshed?

It is not permitted to list hazardous substances, weapons, illegal objects, or items that legally require a licence to rent out. Misleading listings and offensive content will be removed. Accounts may be blocked for abuse.

How do I handle a conflict with the other party?

Try to resolve the conflict directly via the Shareshed chat. Always save all messages and photos as evidence. If you cannot resolve it, contact our support. For serious cases (fraud, theft, threats), file a police report.

Is my personal information safe?

Shareshed only stores data necessary for the platform to function (name, email, place of residence). We never sell your data to third parties. You can delete your account and data at any time via your profile page.

How do I delete a listing or my account?

Listings can be deleted at any time from your dashboard. To fully delete your account, contact our support. After deletion, your personal data will be removed from our systems.

What if a tool is returned damaged?

This is a matter between the lender and borrower. Shareshed does not mediate in financial disputes. We recommend agreeing on a deposit in advance and photographing the tool's condition. In case of proven intent or fraud, you can file a police report.
